Where to Stay in Puebla
👍🏼 Puebla Centro
When it comes to staying in the center of everything in Puebla, the historic center is hands down the city’s best area for it. Puebla is one of Mexico’s oldest cities and the best of its historic charm is found in this neighborhood.
It has historic buildings, cobblestone streets and alleys, museums, and awe-inspiring colonial landmarks like the 16th-century Catedral de Puebla.
Along with the historic beauty of this neighborhood are a variety of great hotels and eateries where the city’s famous native dish called mole poblano is a specialty.
The markets, shops, and stalls in the historic center of Puebla are also pretty charming and worth exploring. You will find quality handicrafts in those to bring back a souvenir.

👍🏼 Angelópolis
Angelópolis is an urban neighborhood of Puebla with modern buildings, parks, some of the city’s top universities and schools, and lots of malls and trendy shops.
Not only that, it’s one of the most luxurious areas of Mexico overall as well. Some of the most upscale skyscrapers can be found here along with a variety of tourist attractions as well as commercial establishments.
So if you want a contemporary stay in Puebla, Angelópolis is the place for it. You can conveniently explore all the other parts of the city from here while enjoying the luxurious lifestyle of the neighborhood for an upscale experience.
👍🏼 Cholula
Cholula is technically a different city, but it’s so close to Puebla that it might as well be a part of it. This is where you can stay for a lively vibe and some of the best-preserved remnants of ancient times.
The most notable of these is the Great Pyramid of Cholula – the largest pyramid site in the whole world. Miles upon miles of tunnels run through this complex and make for a fascinating world from the past to explore.
Nightlife in Cholula is also great, with its San Andres area featuring a fascinating assortment of shipping containers and bustling with university students. This is where you can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Cholula which is a stunning contrast to its historic San Pedro neighborhood.

👍🏼 Atlixco
Just like Cholula, Atlixco is a nearby city to Puebla where you can make your base and explore the surroundings.
Located just below the Popocatépetl volcano, it’s a laidback place known for its colonial architecture and colorful flower fields.
These delightful flowers are also the reason why Atlixco is one of the prettiest Pueblos Magicos (magic towns) in Mexico and is often called Atlixco de las Flores.
You can explore the town in no time since Atlixco is a small and intimate place. And Puebla City is less than 20 miles from here and Cholula is also nearby, so you can easily explore those from here as well.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Puebla?
In terms of good weather and activities, the best time to visit Puebla is during its dry season (November through April). It features pleasant temperatures, clear skies, and less humidity.
Just keep in mind that the best time to visit is mostly preferences, and the dry season is when the majority of tourists visit here – so it might not be the best time for you if you don’t like crowds or want a budget trip.
If so, you can plan your trip in the month earlier (October) or later (May). The weather will be decent and you will find better rates as well as deals on everything.
