Thinking about spending a day at Buccanos Beach Club? That’s a great idea. Buccanos Beach Club is one of my favorite beach Clubs in Cozumel and in this post, I will share my honest review about this beautiful place in Cozumel.

Hello, my name is Adrienne and I have been living in Cozumel for 11 years! I will be honest with you, for the first several years I lived here, I never visited beach clubs. I would just pack a backpack and find a quiet spot on the beach.

Recently I found a love for beach clubs, they are the ultimate way to enjoy the beach with great food and drinks, comfortable facilities, and plenty of activities to do. Buccanos Beach Club is hands down my favorite. Keep reading to learn why and what you will find there.

Buccanos Beach Club: An Overview

Buccanos Beach Club is my favorite one among all the Beach Clubs in Cozumel. But you can read about them all in my dedicated post.

Where is Buccanos Beach Club Located?

Buccanos is located north of downtown at kilometer 4.5 of the Zona Hotelera Norte. From town it is a short, maybe 5 minute, car ride. Or, if you have a bicycle, you can ride it up there.

Buccanos Beach Club Opening Hours

Buccanos Beach Club is open from 10 am until 5:45 pm. It is closed on Mondays.

Buccanos Beach Club Facilities

Buccanos sits on a small, but beautiful stretch of beach with well-maintained, beautiful facilities. There is a large, but open building that faces the beach where you can eat breakfast if you want before heading to the beach area.

  • A freshwater pool with plenty of tables surrounded by sun umbrellas sits right in front of the ocean, a beach area with lounge chairs and small palapas.
  • A dock goes out into the water, and you can jump off it to go snorkeling or easily walk into the water.
  • You can also lie down on the sandy beach area from where you can access the shallow water.
  • Buccanos has freshwater showers to rinse off and some of the most unbelievably clean bathrooms you will ever find at a beach club.
  • There is an onsite photography studio at Buccanos also. If you are celebrating a special event or enjoying the chance of having your family or friends all together, it is a great idea to book a professional photo shoot with them. They often try to schedule your pictures before the beach club opens, and you can have the turquoise water as a background. Then, change into your swimsuit and enjoy the day at the beach!
  • Snorkel rental includes a certified snorkel guide and full equipment for $20 usd or 400 pesos per person. *Parasailing and jet skis rentals available onsite

It was clean, good food, spacious and staff were very attentive. The snorkeling was good and they had all the snorkeling equipment available.

Buccanos Beach Club Entry Fees

The Entry Fees at Buccanos Beach Clubs are 400 MXN ( about 25 USD) per person but it gets deducted from your final bill. This basically means that it is a 400 per person minimum consumption- just make sure that you do not lose the receipt they give you at the door when you pay your entrance fee!

Your entrance allows you to grab any table, chair, or beach lounger that you want. There are no extra, hidden fees for using the facilities and you can use the pool as well.

Food and Drinks at Buccanos Beach Club

One of the reasons Buccanos is my favorite beach club is the food and drinks are delicious! Many beachfront restaurants and beach clubs have decent food, but you go for the atmosphere more than the food.

At Buccanos you get both! The food menu has many beach club favorites such as nachos, ceviche, and quesadillas, but also many more inventive plates that put a twist on traditional beach club fare such as plantain chip nachos with lobster, chicken wings with an exotic sauce, and many other great options.

The beach club has a cocktail menu with interesting combinations. If you want something more traditional you can always order a piña colada or margarita. They have bottled beer and nonalcoholic drink options too.

Perfect beach day. Great food, comfortable lounge chairs, service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this place for a relaxing experience

Things to do at Buccanos Beach Club

Buccanos Beach Club is a great spot if you want a truly relaxing day at the beach. Some beach clubs promote a party atmosphere, with loud music and tons of activities in your face. Buccanos has a more laid-back vibe.

Despite having a sandy entrance to the beach, if you snorkel a short distance from the dock you will find many rocky areas filled with tropical fish. You can bring your own snorkel and fins, or rent them there.

There is a small massage area, where you can treat yourself to a relaxing massage on the beach. If you forgot any beach essentials or just want to browse around a bit, there is a small shop at the entrance to the beach club, as well as a tequila shop that offers tastings. For an additional cost, you can set up parasailing or jet ski rentals too.

Most people who spend the day at Buccanos enjoy the easy water access, pool, and great atmosphere.

How to get to the Buccanos Beach Club

Buccanos is just north of downtown. If you have a rental car you can drive it there- there is plenty of onsite parking. Or you can take a taxi.

There are always taxis at the exit, so you will not have to worry about making your way back to town at the end of the day. You can also bike from town to Buccanos, and there are plenty of places to lock your bike for the day.

You do not have to pass the cruise ship terminals to get from town to Buccanos. This means that on busy days, you will not get stuck in island traffic.

Buccanos at Night

Buccanos Beach Club closes in the evening and the facility reopens as Buccanos at Night- one of the best, most elegant restaurants on the island.

Buccanos at Night is known for its inventive cuisine, cocktails, and delicious desserts all served to you in a beautiful setting. It is a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion or to treat yourself to a wonderful meal.

Tip: If you want to eat dinner at Buccanos at Night make sure to make reservations, if possible try to catch the sunset with a cocktail there!

Pros and cons of Buccanos Beach Club

PROS

Buccanos Beach Club is a favorite of both locals and visitors to the island. I personally love the layout of the beach club. The beach area has plenty of palm trees and small palapas, so it is easy to find a shady spot.

The chairs are well spaced out too, so you get the feeling of having a nice area for you and your party to hang out at.

As mentioned above, the food and drinks at Buccanos are high quality and very tasty and the menu has plenty of options to choose from.

You can get everything from a salad to pizza to tacos, plus they have vegetarian and vegan options.

CONS

Of course, no place is perfect. One of the disadvantages of Buccanos being a relatively small beach club is that it does fill up. If you get there later in the morning there are times in the high season that it will be full and you will not be able to enter.

Avoid this problem by going early in the morning when it opens, or waiting until later in the day when some people will have already left.

The service at Buccanos is relaxed. The servers are not on top of you to keep ordering more and more. Plan to wait a bit for your food and drinks, especially if it is busy.
