What to Wear in Cabo: How to Pack Smart and Stay Stylish
If you have booked your vacation to Cabo San Lucas and you are uncertain about the right outfit, I am here to help. Cabo, as much as the entire Baja Peninsula, is a paradise for adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery.
From boat tours to hiking to just basking in the sun, there are plenty of activities, and having the right outfit and accessories can make or break your vacation.
I’ve been in Cabo several times, and I’m here to help.
This guide includes outfit ideas for beach days and evenings out, plus essential packing tips for adventures like whale watching, snorkeling, and hiking.
Before moving forward, I also recommend checking out my Cabo guides for your travel planning, which include things to do in Cabo, where to stay in Cabo, and the best tours.

☀️ Understanding Cabo’s Weather
Cabo has that perfect vacation weather almost all year—sunny skies, warm days, and barely any rain. But don’t forget—it’s a desert-like destination, which means the temperature can drop quite a bit once the sun goes down, especially in winter.
- Whale watching season runs from December to April. Early-morning tours can be chilly, so pack a light jacket or sweater.
- Snorkeling season is best from July to October, when the water is warmer and visibility is at its best.
🧳 Packing tip: Cabo may scream beach vibes, but it’s smart to prep for both the heat and the chill. Think layers—like breezy outfits for the day and something warmer for those cooler desert nights.

Essential Packing Tips
- Stick to light, breathable fabrics- Linen, cotton, and quick-dry materials are your best friends in Cabo’s warm weather. They’ll keep you cool during the day and comfortable if temperatures dip in the evening.
- Bring the right shoes for the right vibe—flip-flops or sandals for the beach, comfy sneakers for exploring or hiking, and maybe a pair of wedges or dressy sandals for evenings out.
- Don’t mess around with sun protection – The sun is intense here, so pack smart: a wide-brimmed hat, polarized sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, and maybe even a lightweight UPF shirt if you burn easily.
- Throw in some waterproof gear just in case – A lightweight rain jacket or a packable poncho isn’t just for rare rain showers—it’s super handy for boat rides, snorkeling tours, or breezy mornings on the water.
- Stay Hydrated – Staying hydrated is always a good practice, but it is essential in such a climate. And I mean, drink a lot of water. I know what you were thinking 😜! This filter bottle is ideal for never run out of water. Or if you like your water to stay cool, this thermic bottle is super cute (I’ve got one for myself too)

What to Wear at the Airport
Dress in layers—planes and airports can get chilly, but once you land in Cabo, you’ll be stepping into sunshine. A cozy cardigan, a hoodie, or a light jacket over a breathable top is a great combo you can peel off easily.
Consider the flight length and where you’re coming from—if you’re flying in from a cooler climate, start with warmer layers you can shed. For long-haul flights, go for soft, stretchy clothes that don’t dig in.
Choose wrinkle-resistant, breathable fabrics—cotton blends, knits, or linen with a bit of give—so you stay fresh and comfortable without looking too sloppy.
Go for easy comfort—loose pants, soft leggings, or joggers with slip-on shoes make getting through security (and the whole journey) a breeze.
Airport Outfit Ideas
Option 1: Casual & Comfortable
- Leggings or joggers with a loose-fitting T-shirt or tank top.
- Add a light cardigan, denim jacket, or oversized scarf for layering.
- Slip-on sneakers or flats for easy airport security checks.
- Chic Sweatshirt: Long-sleeve zip-up with a lapel design that blends elegance and comfort. Includes two zippered pockets to keep your essentials close.
- Flattering Pants: High-waisted wide-leg pants that elongate your legs while offering all-day comfort. Also designed with secure zippered pockets.
- Soft & Cozy Fabric: Made from thick yet lightweight material that feels soft on the skin—warm, breathable, and perfect for any season.

👜 Your Handbag: Airport Meets Beach Vibes
When you’re flying to Cabo, pack smart with a handbag that works double duty — something roomy enough for travel essentials but chic enough to use once you hit the beach. Think of a woven tote, canvas bag, or sturdy straw bag with zippered compartments.
Inside, keep the items that’ll make your trip smoother:
- iPad or e-reader for the flight and lazy beach afternoons
- Phone charger and portable power bank (outlets are rare at small airports and beach cafés)
- Refillable water bottle to stay hydrated in the dry Baja air
- Sunglasses and sunscreen — your skin will thank you the moment you land
- Light scarf or wrap — doubles as a blanket on the plane and a beach cover-up later
- Lip balm and hand cream for post-flight dryness
- Snacks (nuts, fruit bars) — airport food can be hit or miss
- Small pouch for passports, cards, and hotel confirmations
Opt for something stylish yet practical — a tote that complements your resort outfits while also being able to withstand a bit of sand and sunscreen. Here some cute options.
👗 Style Tips
In Cabo, comfort and style go hand in hand. Neutral tones and earthy hues like beige, olive, white, and sand always look effortlessly chic and photograph beautifully against the desert-meets-ocean backdrop. They also make it easy to mix and match, so you can create multiple outfits without overpacking.
Skip heavy fabrics like denim or thick cotton — they trap heat and can feel sticky in Cabo’s warm, often humid weather. Instead, go for light, breathable materials such as linen, rayon, or soft blends that keep you cool from day to night.
Think relaxed silhouettes, airy skirts, and flowy pants that move with the breeze, like these I have selected below. The second last is my favorite.

Don’t forget comfortable flip-flops or slides, a wide-brimmed straw hat to protect yourself from the intense sun, and a large tote bag to stash all your beach essentials — sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, and maybe a good book.

🧗♀️ For Adventure Activities (Non-Hiking)
When you’re heading out for ziplining, kayaking, or snorkeling, comfort is key. Pack lightweight shorts or activewear that allow free movement and dry quickly if you get splashed. A quick-dry tank top or breathable T-shirt keeps you cool under the sun and dries fast if it rains or you sweat.
For footwear, sneakers or sporty sandals are your best friends — they’ll protect your feet while still being comfortable enough to wear all day. If you’re participating in water-based activities, opt for sandals that won’t slip when wet.
Also, a rash guard and matching pants are perfect for sun protection as well.

🌞 For Casual Sightseeing
Exploring towns, markets, and historical sites calls for a relaxed but put-together look. Sundresses or shorts paired with airy tops are ideal for staying cool and comfortable while still looking stylish in photos.
Go for natural fabrics like cotton or linen to handle the heat.
Pair them with flat sandals or espadrilles, which are great for long walks without sacrificing style. Add a crossbody bag and sunglasses, and you’re good to go from morning coffee runs to sunset strolls.
🌙 Evening Outfit Ideas
When the sun sets, it’s time to switch it up a little.
- For casual dinners, think maxi dresses, jumpsuits, or flowy skirts with a cute top — they’re easy to wear and look effortlessly chic.
- For nights out, bring something a bit bolder, like a fitted dress or a tailored jumpsuit in metallic tones or bright prints that stand out.
If the night gets chilly, layer with a denim jacket, light cardigan, or wrap. They don’t take up much space in your luggage but make all the difference when the temperature drops. Here are some cute ideas.

Special Activities & Outfit Suggestions
🐋 Boat Tours: Whale Watching
Whale watching in Cabo is magical, but the open sea can be chilly — even on sunny days. Layering is essential. Start with a long-sleeve top or light sweater and add a windbreaker or lightweight jacket to shield yourself from the breeze. Jeans or leggings are perfect for comfort and warmth.
Bring a beanie or scarf, especially during the winter months, when mornings on the boat can get surprisingly cold. For shoes, opt for closed-toe sneakers to keep your feet warm and provide a steady grip on deck.
Don’t forget polarized sunglasses to reduce glare from the water and reef-safe sunscreen — even when it’s cloudy, UV rays still reflect off the ocean. A small backpack or crossbody bag is handy for stashing your camera, snacks, and an extra layer.
- Classic Retro & Fashionable Design: Timeless style with a modern twist. Flexible arms and soft nose pads fit comfortably on any face shape.
- UV Protection: Blocks over 99.9% of harmful UVA and UVB rays to keep your eyes safe and your view clear.
- Flattering Look: Smooth lines and chic details that add a stylish touch to any outfit.
- Perfect for Every Occasion: Great for driving, shopping, walking, or traveling. A trendy everyday accessory that also makes a perfect gift for friends and family.
- 30-Day Guarantee: If something goes wrong, just contact the seller. You’re covered with friendly support and a risk-free promise.
🐠 Boat Tours: Snorkeling
For snorkeling trips, comfort and practicality are the most important considerations. Start with a swimsuit and a rash guard, which offers both sun protection and warmth in cooler water. When you’re back on the boat, quick-drying shorts or a sarong are great to throw on while you relax or enjoy a snack.
Since splashes are inevitable, pack a lightweight waterproof jacket to stay dry on windy rides. On your feet, water shoes or secure sandals will protect you from slippery decks and rocky shorelines.
Keep your gear organized with a dry bag for your phone, camera, and valuables, and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. If you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s smart to bring tablets or acupressure wristbands — just in case.
